604D4-SHF (Supercharged Heavy Fuel)

The 604D4-SHF is a supercharged, four-cylinder, two-stroke diesel UAV engine that is not a converted light weight two stroke. This engine will utilize exotic materials and technologies to keep weight to a minimum and will be a true compression ignited, direct injected heavy fuel engine.

Lightning first began working on the 604D4-SHF concept in April of 2007, and is currently in the process of designing the engine in our CAD/CAM system. We will began manufacturing component parts within the next few months. The plan is to extend this option to other engine sizes after the development, testing and production of this project. Our projected date for the testing of the prototype engine is mid 2008.

Key Features:

  • Direct injection, utilizing digital fuel management system.
  • Dry sump pressure lubricant system.
  • Supercharger for increased performance.
  • Combined starter/generator system.
  • Exotic materials, coatings and processes to reduce weight and increase engine durability.

*Lightning Aircraft's engines are for unmanned flight only, Please do not contact us for any manned aircraft use.
