UAV ENGINES

Lightning Aircraft, Inc.  specializes in the complete design, development and manufacturing of top quality Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) engines ranging from 150cc to 604cc. To date, we have custom designed engines for individual customer projects, as well as engine mounts, propeller reduction units and other accessories to individual customer's requirements, and are the sole source provider for engines on several unmanned aerial vehicle projects. Our complete aerospace machine shop affords us the ability to modify our engines to fit each customer's individual airframe needs.

Our goal is to keep our customers aircraft in the air, not in the shop, so we only use the highest quality materials, hardware and processes to ensure the ultimate reliability, longevity and durability of our products.

We utilize high-end 3D CAD/CAM systems to control the manufacturing process, from original design to complete machining, for the highest quality engine parts possible. This also allows us to constantly upgrade and improve our product. Because the engine is only as good as the component parts it's comprised of, LAI manufactures all machined parts with our own CNC machining centers, completely "in house", to control quality, scheduling and overhead.

Lightning has a long standing relationship with outside processing vendors and suppliers and we continually monitor and rate their services to insure that they continue to deliver the highest grade services possible.

Warranty and Performance Upgrade Program:

What makes Lightning's UAV engines so special? In addition to the twenty years of experience that key staff has in the designing, building and test flying of remote control and unmanned aircraft,  Lightning also offers a full 1-year warranty* on all its engines, AND, each engine is eligible for Lightning's Performance Upgrade Program at no extra cost** to the customer.  What that means, is that if LAI discovers, designs, or modifies a current engine design that increases the performance of the engine you purchased, you will be notified of the performance upgrade and a request made that the engine be returned so that each engine can be modified with the performance enhancing upgrade.

Why do we do it? Because Lightning wants only the highest performance engines in the hands of its customers.
