ARES UAV IN DEVELOPMENT!

8/08/09 -- LAI  has been working on their new UAV design for about 3 years. We have flown a small prototype about 10 flights and have decided to proceed with the full size version it will have a 22 ft. wingspan and be power by the 604D4-FI engine first. If we can get back to our 604D4-SHF (supercharged heavy fuel) engine project, that will be the engine the UAV will be powered by. The ARES will have retractable landing gear, removable outer wings and tail section and will also have a retractable optical system. Both of these projects are kind of a joint venture and are very complex and expensive so progress of these projects will be slower than normal because we are funding them internally. LAI will not be developing the avionics part of this UAS system and will contract that out in the future.

604D4-SHF(SUPERCHARGED HEAVY FUEL) ENGINE DEVELOPMENT!

LAI has started the design process of our new supercharged, two stroke, heavy fuel UAV engine.  This engine will be a 4-cylinder, opposed configuration, with a twin screw supercharger and digital fuel management system. LAI will use magnesium, titanium, carbon fiber and plastics to keep weight to a minimum. The second prong of the program includes development of a UAV airframe to be matched to the engine for optimal configuration and capabilities showcasing, performance, and to ensure the durability needed for testing. Further announcements of the combined heavy fuel program coming soon!
